Less is more.

The evolution of my abstract work began with square and cubical geometries found in old televisions. I was confronted with so many televisions thrown in the trash between 2007 and 2009 in Honolulu. The sheer electronic waste at that time both haunted and inspired me to reuse these objects in a more formal and artistic way. At that time, I could not have imagined what the electronic waste would look like today.

The cube was a prominent form in my early work. This work has evolved over the decades. Flatter, organic compositions are inspired from the natural world although I have not abandoned geometry. I am actively seeking to distill these organic forms to their most minimal essence while being conscious of form, shape, proximity, and a playfulness with juxtaposition. I am always conscious of dichotomies. Whether conceptual such as perceived versus experienced, or more formal such as ethereal vs. solid, these contradictions activate each other in a search for balance. Seemingly paradoxical, the organic coincides with the geometric and the loudness becomes silent.
